Hon'ble Chief Justice handing over order of Lok Adalat to parties
The office of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with District Legal Services Authorities organized the fourth & last National Lok Adalat for the calendar year, 2024 on 14th December, 2024 at all the District Courts.
The High Court Legal Services Committee also organized National Lok Adalat at High Court of Manipur in which 1(one) Bench comprising of Smt. R.K. Memcha Devi, Judge, Family Court, Imphal East as Chairperson; Shri Ojesh Mutum, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur & Shri Kh. Ajit Singh, Registrar (Judl.), High Court of Manipur as Members is constituted.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice D. Krishnakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur & Patron-in-Chief, MASLSA along with Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, MASLSA; Shri A. Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Judge, High Court of Manipur accompanied by Shri Ojesh Mutum, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur; Shri Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority & Ms. Shanta Athokpam, Registrar (Vigilance), High Court of Manipur visited the sitting of National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court Complex & Bishnupur Court Complex respectively.
Hon’ble the Chief Justice as well as Hon’ble Judges of the High Court handed over the Award of National Lok Adalat to some of the parties & appreciated everyone for participating in the National Lok Adalat. During interaction with media persons at Lamphel Court Complex, Ms. Bineshwori Maibam, Addl. Member Secretary, MASLSA stated that National Lok Adalat is held 4(four) times in a year as per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority.
She stated that both pre- litigation and those civil cases pending before the courts such as Matrimonial disputes, Bank recovery cases, MACT cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity & Water Bill cases can be settled before the Lok Adalat. The decree passed in the Lok Adalat are akin to decree passed by any civil court and they are final and no appeal lies before any other courts & she requested the public at large to take the opportunity for settlement of disputes through Lok Adalat.
Out of 331 cases which were taken up today, 295 cases were successfully resolved during the Lok Adalat with total settlement amount of Rs. 3,00,85,077/- (Rupees three crores eighty-five thousand & seventy-seven) only.
Mr. Y. Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West; Ms. N. Lanleima, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East; Ms. Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge, ND&PS, Manipur presided as Chairperson of 3(three) benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex. Shri Ch. Momon Singh, Advocate; Smt. Th. Rebecca, Advocate; Dr. Sapam Dilipkumar Singh, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Law, Manipur University; Shri P. Tolen, Advocate; Km. L. Rebeda Devi, Advocate & Shri Y. Ramananda, Advocate performed as Members of the benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.
MALSA is thankful to the Presiding Officers, Judicial Officers, Ld. S. Devananda, Advocate & Media Coordinator, Ld. Advocates, PLVs, Staff of the Court & MASLSA, Officials of Bank/ Insurance Companies, News and Print Media & all the parties for contributing & participating in the National Lok Adalat and making this programme a success.
It is also requested to all the News and Print Media to give wider dissemination of Lok Adalat so that more people may avail the opportunity for resolving their dispute through this Alternative Dispute Resolution i.e. Lok Adalat.
