Indians in Korea (IIK) Urges Immediate Release of Abducted Meitei Family Members in Manipur and Calls for Peace and Government Action
Indians in Korea (IIK) expresses its deep concern and heartfelt appeal for the immediate release of six Meitei family members, including women and young children, who were abducted by armed Kuki-Zo-Hmar militants on November 11, 2024, in Jakuradhor Karong, Borobekra, Jiribam, Manipur.
Among those abducted are an elderly woman, Yulembam Rani Devi (60), a toddler, Laishram Lamnganba (8 months), two young children, Laishram Chingheinganba (2 years) and Telam Thajamanbi Devi (8 years), as well as two other family members.
This deeply concerning incident underscores the urgent need for peace, safety, and stability in the region. IIK stands in solidarity with the affected families and appeals to the authorities and the international community to ensure the immediate and safe return of the abducted family members. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones in this distressing time.
We urge the Government of India to take swift and decisive action to secure the release of the hostages and address the escalating violence in Manipur. This appeal is not only to prevent further abductions but also to safeguard the dignity, rights, and lives of all communities affected by the unrest in the region.
The ongoing conflict has led to an unbearable toll on innocent civilians, especially women, children, and the elderly. IIK appeals to all parties involved to exercise restraint, work towards peace, and recognize the human cost of violence. We call on the Government of India to prioritize peace initiatives and implement measures to resolve the underlying issues fueling this conflict.
We believe that India can overcome these challenges through unity, dialogue, and a commitment to justice. In these trying times, IIK pledges its support to all efforts that contribute towards restoring harmony and ensuring a peaceful, safe environment for all communities in Manipur.
This Appeal is supported by Sister Organization of IIK, such as Bangali Association of Korea, Korea Tamil Organization, Maratha Mandal Association, Indian Merchant Association of Korea and many others.
