WMC expresses its strong resentment at the Manipur government for preventing it from holding a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today. Despite calling for a press conference on this date, the WMC functionaries were detained by the Manipur Police upon reaching the Press Club. The police subsequently did not allow WMC to address the press.
This action is a clear violation of Article 19 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and expression. The WMC finds this behaviour by the Manipur government unacceptable and condemns the attempt to silence our voice.
