Habitual offence of enforced disappearance by the Central Armed Forces especially Assam Rifle continues just 9 days after the Imposition of AFSPA, 1958 in 6 police Stations.
Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) observes that the shameless act of brutality towards the civilians and creating a fear psychosis among the people of north east region under the shadow
of AFSPA, 1958 by the Assam Rifles/Indian Army is being continued after many years having Laishram Kamalbabu as the victim.
Since the 1980s, hundreds of innocent lives were extrajudicially executed living hundreds of women as widow and hundreds of children as orphan. Many women were raped, rape and murdered. More than 24 cases of enforced disappearance have been recorded. However, till date not a single perpetrators have been punished and not a single Indian Armed forces were given prosecution sanction till date.
It is very unfortunate to have Laishram Kamalbabu as the victim of such cruelty and inhumane act committed by the Indian Armed Forces creating a fear psychosis among the general public in Manipur.
Disappearance of Mr. Kamalbabu who has been the contract worker assigned in the Leimakhong Army Camp of 57 Mountain Division which is very High military security zone is highly suspicious and questionable and should be made accountable by the Ministry of Defense. Such an act of unsafety & terrorizing the civilians is highly condemned and stringent action is needed against the Indian Armed Forces.
We condemned the Government of India for militarizing the state and also condemned the Government of Manipur for accepting the mass militarization in the name to curb the existing violence since the 3rd of May,
2023.
We would like to appeal the government of India and Manipur to traced the whereabouts of Mr Kamalbabu.
And immediately stop the militarization and stop the attempt of accommodating the Indian Armed Forces in the educational institutions immediately.
