Following an electrifying opening day at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, Guwahati, where the 9th edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) began its celebration of cinematic brilliance, Day 2 carried forward the momentum with an impressive lineup of screenings, discussions, and industry sessions.

Festival Director Tanushree Hazarika had earlier remarked, “BVFF has always been a platform to bring compelling stories to the forefront and foster meaningful conversations in the world of cinema.” This sentiment resonated deeply as Day 2 continued to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, captivating cinephiles and filmmakers alike.

A Cinematic Delight: Day 2 Screenings

The day’s cinematic journey began with the India premiere of Chabila, a Hindi feature film by Anil Amrut Bhalerao, followed by Sumanth Bhat’s Mithya and Mridu Pawan Bora’s Jibonsobi, each bringing unique narratives to the forefront. Adding to the excitement, Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds, a visually stunning French animated feature by Benoit Chieux, transported audiences into a whimsical realm of imagination.

The documentary section offered thought-provoking narratives with Jyoti Kokaideu by Parthajit Baruah, Two Trains by Vishwesh Suresh, and Zende: The Supercop by Akshay Shah, each leaving an indelible mark on viewers.

One of the day’s highlights was a memorable BVFF Reel Talk session with the iconic Tigmanshu Dhulia, known for masterpieces like Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypur. Moderated by EastMojo’s Editor-in-Chief, Karma Paljor, the discussion inspired budding storytellers with Dhulia’s reflections on the art of filmmaking and his cinematic journey.

The industry sessions on Day 2 of BVFF offered a wealth of knowledge and inspiration for aspiring and seasoned filmmakers alike. Film Critic and Journalist Rajeev Masand delved into Ushering in the Ari Gold Era: Redefining Talent Management, shedding light on the evolving dynamics of the entertainment industry.

Renowned filmmaker Navdeep Singh, producer Ronnie Lahiri, actor Kopil Bora, and esteemed dignitaries added star power to the evening, while a mesmerizing musical performance by folk-fusion singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah added to the grandeur.

What Lies Ahead: Day 3 Highlights

As the festival progresses, Day 3 promises a host of cinematic marvels. Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham will make its much-anticipated theatrical debut, offering audiences a deeply moving portrayal of Udham Singh’s unyielding fight for justice. Rima Das’ Village Rockstars 2 and Payal Kapadia’s Cannes-winning All We Imagine as Light are also set to enthrall viewers with their compelling narratives and artistic brilliance.
