The Thadou Community International (TCI), strongly condemn the heinous and cold-blooded murder of Mr. Satkhohao Haokip by unknown armed miscreants on the night of September 30, 2024, in Churachandpur district.
This senseless act of violence has sent shockwaves amongst the denizens of the district. The brutal killing of Satkhohao Haokip is a stark reminder of the escalating violence and lawlessness in the area.
It may be recalled that unidentified armed miscreants had attempted to murder Mr. Th. German Haokip on August 2, 2024. Again on August 31, 2024, the ancestral house of Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip, an iconic Thadou leader was burnt down by unknown miscreants. However, none of the perpetrators involved in the two incidents have been booked till date.
This has led to a pertinent question as to what the district police and law enforcing are doing that they failed to enforce the law of the land in the area. The inaction of the district police in connection with the past incidents have emboldened malevolent elements to carry out their nefarious activities unchecked. The audacity of the miscreants and the deafening eerie silence of the civil organizations and public leaders has also compounded the anxiety and restlessness of the people.
We request the government to increase security measures in vulnerable areas to prevent recurrence of such heinous crimes and initiate swift action to apprehend the culprits and book them under the relevant sections of the law and deliver justice to the aggrieved family.
TCI stands in solidarity with the family of (L) Satkhohao Haokip and expresses our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. As a peace advocating organization, TCI would like to implore the public leaders, civil society organizations and law enforcement agencies to work together to prevent further violence and promote peace and respect to human lives.
