Korea Manipuri Association condemn the brutal murder of 6 innocent Meitei family members including elderly women and kids

Korea Manipur Association (KMA), staged a protest at Seoul, the capital city, South Korea today decrying grave terrorist act upon the innocent children and women by the Kuki- Zo militants.

The gathering is of about 150 people including representatives from Indians in Korea (IIK) at Itaewon this afternoon and showed placards various slogans read “End Kukis Terrorism in Manipur, Protect Human Rights, Governments Must Act”, etc.

KMA’s protest comes in the wake of the tragic and brutal murder of six members of a Meitei family, including 60-year-old Yurembam Rani Devi, two-and-a-half-year-old Laishram Chingkheinganba Singh, 25-year-old L. Heitombi, 31-year-old Telem Thoibi, eight-year-old Telem Thajamanbi, and eight-month-old Laishram Langamba by armed Kuki-Zo militants on 11 November 2024 in Jakuradhor Karong, Borobekra, Jiribam. This heinous act is a gross violation of human rights and reflects the extreme cruelty.

KMA has a deep concern questioning the so called Double-Engine Governments of BJP in New Delhi and Manipur about the growing acts of terrorism shown by gruesome murders after unimaginable tortures committed by the Kuki-Zo terrorists upon the Meiteis civilians.

Over the last 18 months Manipur has been witnessing the criminal acts, targeting civilians, carried out with the aim of causing death, serious injury, or taking hostages, with the intent of instilling fear in the public, specific groups, or individuals.

These acts are meant to intimidate a population or coerce a government or international organization into taking or refraining from specific actions. Such offenses, as outlined in international conventions and protocols on terrorism, cannot be justified by political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious, or similar motives.

Again, the gravity of the physical violence and cruelty wreaked upon either the non-combatant or combatant-adversaries after being captured is unthinkable. The way the victims have been murdered, the manner how the agonized pain and suffering inflicted are too graphic.

The video footages and images captured on the phones are of the gruesome and grotesque scenes, chopping heads, hacking bodies and burning all alive, and the thoughts of what might have happened to those who do not come out on the videos, especially of those girls and women only send shivers down our spines.

The docile eyes of innocent girls and children on the eve of they were tortured and murdered, the fear of the possibility to be captured, tortured and murdered anytime in and around the hills, the reality being shot around the foothills are the greater insecurity always for the civilians.

Here KMA urges again both New Delhi and government of Manipur to discontinue such terror acts and to ensure that criminals face befitting penalties proportionate to the severity of their cruelty. The need is to take up confidence building measure, do justice and restore peace and normalcy as soon as possible in Ema Manipur.
