To,
Shri N.Biren Singh
The Hon'ble Chief Minister
Government of Manipur
Subject: Request for urgent attention on the dire condition of Pony which are grazing in Hatta ICangjeibtmg, Palace Compound, Imphal East.
Dear Sir,
Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) is shocked to witnessed the death of 3 Pony in the month of October, 2024 as per our observation and nearly 30 have died due to lack of proper care and protection.
As Pony Horses of Manipur is culturally connected with the people of Manipur in terms of sports, war and worship, the cultural rights of the people of Manipur is critically in need to be protect, preserve and respect by all and particularly under the Manipur Pony Conservation and Development Policy.
We have been observing since the last few months that the Pony horses are grazing in the Hapta Kangjeibung of Palace Compound and have faced heavy rain and critical weather conditions. However, no proper sheds for shelter to protect themselves from extreme weather condition are observed neither proper medical observation are taken up by the concern authority. As a result the Pony are seen sick and died while the other remains urgent medical attention.
We would like to lay down few area of concern and necessary urgent attention :
1. To direct concern authority to form a medical team to diagnose all the pony presently grazing in Hapta Kangjeibung as a matter of urgency.
2. To urgently construct temporary shed at dry place to protect them from extreme weather condition.
3. To urgently arrange proper grazing field for the pony.
We, therefore, request your good self to kindly consider the aforementioned area of concern and necessary action may kindly be initiated as a matter of urgency. Your kind concem and cooperation will be highly appreciated.
