The Thadou Community International warmly welcomes and appreciates the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) for the safe release of the two Meitei men who had allegedly crossed over the buffer zone on September 27, 2024 and ventured inside Kangpokpi district at Gamgiphai. The duo was kept safely under the custody of COTU. This gesture demonstrates COTU's commitment to peace, humanity, and unity.
The release of the hostages is a significant step towards trust-building and peace in the region. We, as a peace advocating organization commend COTU's leadership for prioritizing dialogue, cooperation and concern for human life. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Manipur Police for their cooperation in escorting the 11 undertrials safely, to be handed over to their respective families.
This development rekindles hope for peaceful coexistence among communities. We urge all stakeholders to continue constructive dialogue, address underlying issues, and foster an environment of trust and cooperation.
We look forward to continued progress and cooperation among all parties involved for a peaceful environment where every individual can live without any fear or hatred.
