Appeal to Stop Unbearable Monetary Demands in Manipur
- 9th July 2024 :: Meitei Alliance

Manipur today is severely affected by widespread coercion and solicitation of money at unbearable levels in the name of funding patriotic activism by various unaccountable armed groups.
This trend not only attacks individual livelihoods but also the entire economy. Many entrepreneurs, traders, and shop owners, who play important economic roles, are worst hit. While some are being forced to shut down their operations, others are being driven to the brink of bankruptcy. All these factors are contributing to casualties, frustrations, chaos, divides, conflicts, and unrest in our society.
We strongly believe that any armed group that truly stands for the cause of the people will not attack the economy and the livelihood of common people.
We, therefore, appeal to
(1) the concerned armed groups,
(2) the Government, and
(3) civil organizations at local, community, and state levels
to take up initiatives to address this issue.
