Over Rs. One crore forty-seven lakhs amount settled in the 3rd National Lok Adalat
The 3rd National Lok Adalat for Imphal West and Imphal East districts is held today at Lamphel Court Complex. 3 Benches were constituted for conducting the Lok Adalat.
A total number of 3023 cases were listed in today’s National Lok Adalat. Out of which 133 number of cases were taken up and 125 number of cases were settled with total settlement amount of Rs. 1,47,27,307/- (Rupees one crore forty-seven lakhs twenty-seven thousand three hundred and seven) only.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Judge, High Court of Manipur visited & inspected the sitting of National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court Complex. Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma & Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu also interacted with all the Chairperson and Members of the benches.

While interacting with the media persons, Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma stated that in addition to the pending court cases, many disputes which have not yet reach the court i.e. pre-litigation disputes may be referred in the National Lok Adalat. The decrees received after years of litigation is equivalent to any settlement arrived before the National Lok Adalat without any fees or charges for the Advocates.
The order passed at the National Lok Adalat is equivalent to civil court decree and the same is final and not appealable. Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma also appealed to the people to make use of National Lok Adalat to resolved their dispute without going before the Courts which is often lengthy and expensive.
He also encouraged the public to approach the District Legal Services Authorities and Legal Aid Clinics if they so desire to list their cases in the next coming National Lok Adalat which will be held on 14th December, 2024. Further, the Manipur State Legal Services Authority and District Legal Services Authorities may also organize mini Lok Adalat over and above the national calendar if the parties approaches to them.

Lanleima, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East presided as Chairperson of National Lok Adalat and Shri Tonjaoba, Advocate; Smt. I. Lenibala, Advocate; Shri Ch. Momon Singh, Advocate; Smt. H. Ranabati Devi, Advocate; Shri Ch. Bimolchandra, Advocate; Km. B. Supriya Devi, Advocate sat as Members of the benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.

In-spite of the rescheduling of the 3rd National Lok Adalat from 14th September, 2024 to 22nd September, 2024 due to public curfew, there was a large turn-up in today’s National Lok Adalat.
MALSA is thankful to the Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. Bimol Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA; Presiding Officers, Judicial Officers, Ld. S. Devananda, Advocate & Media Coordinator of MASLSA, Ld. Advocates, PLVs, Staff of the Court & MASLSA, Officials of Bank/ Insurance Companies, News and Print Media & all the parties for contributing & participating in the National Lok Adalat and making this programme a success.
The office of the MASLSA humbly request all the News and Print Media to kindly give wide dissemination of Lok Adalat so that more people may avail the opportunity for resolving their dispute through this Alternative Dispute Resolution i.e. Lok Adalat.
