13th Annual General Meeting and Cultural Program of AMAND
The Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND) organized its 13th Annual General Meeting and Cultural Program titled “Poknapham Ima” on the 20th October, 2024 at Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS) Auditorium, Viman Nagar, Pune-14.
Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha, Inner Manipur) graced the function as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Akoijam expressed that “the Manipuri diaspora plays a crucial role in shaping a new and prosperous Manipur.” The Chief Guest released AMAND’s 6th MEMOIR during the event.
In the first session of the event, Shri Kulabidhu Chanam, President of AMAND, welcomed the attendees and addressed the gathering. Shri Laishram Rishikanta Meitei, General Secretary of AMAND, spoke including a review of AMAND's activities for the past two years (2022-2024).

One of the highlights of the event was a special segment led by Akoijam Ongbi Olivia Devi, who honored outstanding students. The prestigious “N. Albert Memorial Award for Academic Excellence 2024” was awarded to Lanchenbi Thounaojam, a student of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The newly elected AMAND President for 2024-2026, Er. Chongtham Jayanta Singh took over charge as new President of AMAND from the out-going President, Shri Kulabidhu Chanam. The first session concluded with a Vote of Thanks speech from the newly elected President Er. Jayanta Singh.
A key part of the event was the cultural program entitled Poknapham Ima (Motherland), which showcased traditional Manipuri and Maharashtrian dance forms such as Thougal Jagoi, Khamba Thoibi Jagoi, Thang-Ta, Kathak, Koli Dance and performances from the AMAND Talent Hunt competition as a part of the cultural exchange program. The evening concluded with a community feast.
The event was attended by Manipuri diaspora members from different age groups, including families, youth, guests from Mumbai Manipuri Assn., student groups, well wishers who contributed to the success of the gathering.
