Relief Materials Distribution at Sawombung

As a part of Annual Charity Program of Nawa Marup, Pune, family members of Nawa Marup visited the Sawombung Relief Camp, Imphal on 17th Nov 2023 and interacted with the inmates of the camp. The camp houses 150+ children (0-18 years) along with their parents and elderly people.

Relief materials like books, pens, crayons, etc were distributed to the inmates of the camp. Ms Singhalata Thounaojam spearheaded the visit along with other executives members, Mr Janardhan, Ms Roma, Mr Bidyasagar and Ms Manileima.

Ms Thounaojam interacted with the students and mention about the importance of continuous education even during such a crisis and entrust that every possible support from Nawa Marup will be provided as and whenever required.

M Johnson Sarangthem Meetei, co-ordinator of the Camp, express his overwhelming joy for the care and support from the Meetei families staying out of the state. Mr Janardhan highlighted about the various educational opportunities of the central government available for continuing education in other part of the country for the affected students.

Inmates shared their sorrows and mental trauma caused by this prolonged crisis and requested for the swift action from the state and central governments in bringing the normalcy in the state. They further emphasis for return to their respective homes and a peaceful coexistence amongst all community in the state.

Mr Bidyasagar talked about the Nawa Marup and its related activities. Inmates of the camp requested the authorities of the state government to bring normalcy in the state where they can return to their respective homes and a peaceful coexistence of all communities who considered themselves a part of the state.

Nawa Marup, Pune was established in 2018 with families of Manipuri origin staying in and around Pune. The sole aim of the Nawa Marup is to encourage and cultivate the aged old traditions and cultures into the young mind of the kids of Manipuri families staying far away from their hometown.

With the aim of creating an equal platform for all the kids, Nawa Marup regularly organizes various social related activities throughout the year, where the young minds of Nawa Marup interact with differently able, un-previleged kids to understand the importance of ones life.
