Assistance to students and individuals from Manipur stranded across India

Amidst the present outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in India and across the globe, reports are being circulated in social media and other sources regarding hardships faced by students and other individuals from Manipur who are stranded all across India due to nation-wide LOCKDOWN.
It is alleged that the adversity faced by them has been conflated with the issues of racial discrimination/ stereotyping, leading to unreasonable additional hardships and fear psychosis amongst them. The same holds true for all students and individuals belonging from the north-eastern part of the country.
The Government of Manipur has already gone for all hands on deck approach to contain the spread of this pandemic on all fronts; and have already undertaken a comprehensive action plan for the students and other individuals stranded all over India.
In this regard, and also as an initiative to assist the policy of the Government, the Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority have requested the Member Secretaries of all the State Legal Services Authorities to provide all possible assistance to all the students and other individuals from Manipur or from North-Eastern part of India stranded in their respective state, so that any unfortunate incident can be avoided at least.
Many State Legal Services Authorities across India have come forward to provide all possible help to the stranded individuals from Manipur.
Also, the Government of Manipur have provided a consolidated list of 16,528 individuals from Manipur who are registered at tengbang.in,, requiring assistance in various forms.
Further, in order to provide all possible assistance to them, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur in his capacity as Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority, have also requested the Executive Chairman of all the State Legal Services Authorities to get in touch with their respective State Governments to provide essential items/ commodities to the stranded individuals from Manipur, on humanitarian grounds.
The list of stranded individuals from Manipur along with their address and contact numbers have also been shared with all the State Legal Services Authorities across India for providing necessary assistance.
