Dear, Zeliangrong People,
Let us thankful to Almighty God who has been ever gracious to shower His countless merciful blessing upon Zeliangrong,I greet to our people on this 81st Death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang.
Dear fellowmen with declaration of 81st death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang,Naga Hero 81 years have gone and generation Passing away but the dream of Haipou Jadonang the Messiah of Naga Nation remains as fresh in the minds of this day our Zeliangrong area and whole state of nation as the foundation of Naga People.
Haipou Jadonang was the youngest of the three sons of Thiudai (Father) and Tabonliu (Mother) and was born in the year 1905 at Puiluan ( Kambiron ) Village in Tamenglong Dist. Of Manipur.
He was one of the first Naga to Claim to be the Messiah king of the Naga and strove to liberate his people from British rule. Playing the role of a God –King he become popular for his prophesy,healing,power,religious and social activitist.He organize his people into an effective resistance against British rule.
His Movement popularly called The Naga Raj Spread like wild-fire and engulfed the whole Zeliangrong areas and further widened its influence to neighboring areas.
Subsequence to the widespread uprising in the area the British inhabited plans to bring down Haipou Jadonang and crush his Naga Raj.The political Agent of Manipur State, J.C Higgins finally succeeded in arresting Haipou Jadonang on the 19th of Feb 1931 at Cachar about a month later was taken to Imphal and was later imprison in Imphal Jail while Persecution against him and some of his followers was going on at the Court of the Manipur Political agent.
On the 29th of August a day is observed by all Zelaingrong inhabited areas he was hung by the Order of the British Govt. at the Banks of the Nambul river.It was thus that this Pioneer of the anti-colonial movement in the North-Eastern region of India became a Martyrs.
Haipou Jadonang dedicated of his life to the progress and uplifment of his people though his dream of uniting his people is yet to see the light of Day.
This much I want to plead to our people,Zeliangrong.
