On Rio Olympic Games

The most awaited Rio Olympic Game which is going to start from 5th of August and will conclude on 21st of August.

The entire nation has begun their preparation to participate in the game and India is also giving special attention to that athlete who has been qualified for the Rio Olympic game.

The entire nations are even started researched on the atmospheres condition of the Rio to succeed in the game.

Around ten thousand athlete will participate in the 306 event in 26 different games from the 207 teams has been aiming to win the medals.

The newly independence nation Casaba and South Sudan will be their maiden voyage in the game and will be an interesting for the audience. And there is interesting taste of the game is that there will be a Refugee Olympic Athletes team for war prone country.

The players of the Manipur are also representing India in coming Olympic game which is conducted every four years gaps. After debuting in 1984 by Manipur player the world has been recognised our supremacy.

The Los Angeles game of 1984 in which Pangambam Nilkamal participated in Indian hockey teams as Goal Keeper has remain as an unforgettable moment for us.

A small state like Manipur tha has players who are able to participate is like showing our spirit in sport to the world.

In upcoming games, 6 players player from Manipur are participating and this is the highest number of participation till now by Manipuri players.

In 1984 – Nilkamal,
1988- Thoiba,
2000-Sanamacha, Dingku, Suresh and Brijishori,
2004- Kunjarani and sanamacha,
2008- Bombela and Tombi,
2012-Devendro, Bombela, Sonia, Mary Kom and Kothajit participated respectively in the game so far. In the year 2012, 5 players participated and the most interesting is that Mary Kom brought Bronze medal in boxing event.

In the coming Rio game, 6 players from Manipur will be witness participating India in the event including
Bombela in Archery,
Mirabai in weightlifting,
Sushila and Anuradha in women hockey team,
Kothajit and Chinglansana in Men Hockey team.

A proud thing of us is that among 6 players, Bombela is representing consecutively 3 times in the Olympic in archery event.

And one more proud of us is that Sushila is representing as captain of the Indian women hockey team.
The Indian Women Hockey Team qualified in the game after almost 36 years of gap and it gave captain to a Manipuri player and is an indication of the recognization of the Manipuri player's sport spirit.

Many wishes are pouring from various section of the state and state government would announce incentive award and best wishes to the player.

It is the high time for us when compared with other states. The quality of Manipur can easily be recognised by intellectuals even after seeing its small population and geographical area.
