My name is Kom, Mary Kom , I have the 'license to kill'. Five time World Champion MP Mary Kom won her third gold medal of the year with a great display of professional brilliance in the 13th Silesian Open Boxing Tournament for women in Gliwice, Poland. Mary Kom prevailed over Kazakhstan's Aigerim Kassanayeva to pick up India's lone senior category gold. The 35 year old Kom is still agile and having an impregnable defense to deny any punching point to the opponent.

MP Mary Kom has got a little 'quantum of solace' when she had convincingly beaten her Kazakhstan opponent after recovering from some niggles that kept her out of the Asian Games at Jakarta. One Sports Reporter says ' Mary has a great maneuvering skill; her style is very unusual and her spontaneity is so amazing that her opponents can't easily anticipate her moves'.

In the same tournament Sarita Chanu lost to another Kazakhstan Karina Ibragimova. People felt that the decision of the jury was not a very convincing one. The Indian contingent was not at all happy about the decision. It was perhaps a controversial decision. Sarita was obviously better but the jury did not rule in her favor, they grumbled. The audience was indeed applauding for her performance. Sarita must remember 'tomorrow never dies'; who knows she may have a comeback 'from Russia with love' sorry, 'from Japan with love'2020.

Mary's terrific comeback is still on; a second life for the woman with the golden glove and she can't possibly have a bigger comeback. During this second life span she must open her 'golden eye' and also must remember that she has the 'license to kill'. She has a cherished dream to accomplish. She can Bring the ultimate gold (Olympic) by using her 'octopussy' arms, from Tokyo , 'you only live twice'.

'Dr. No' must know that even with five times Asian title, five times World title, Asian Games gold, Olympic bronze and many other coveted medals , Mary the Muhammad Ali of India won't get the paramount professional comfort till she gets the ultimate gold. The most decorated female pugilist of the world belongs to our land, 'diamonds are forever'.

A courageous mother with a supportive husband, Mary's achievement is beyond a billion win in the 'Casino Royal'. We may always enjoy 'thunderball (bolt)' while watching Mary beating her opponents. Perhaps everyone was frightened by Mary's reputation. The blessings of her people ( Kukis, Nagas, Pangans, Bamons and Meities) always worked in her favor. Now the blessings are pouring in from every nook and corner of the country.

Once Mary had admitted that many had written her off. Hence every victory is an encouragement for her to move on till 'moonraker' . Mary has come back to stay, she will 'die another day' but certainly not today. She also wants to thank everyone who supports her in all her ups and downs. Her comeback will bring more laurels to make us proud again. Surprisingly the crowd was always behind her wherever she goes. May be a God gifted 'skyfall'.

Frankly speaking Priyanka Chopra has changed her image after playing Mary Kom. In fact she has got more challenging roles in Quantico and Baywatch. She made a faux pas dealing with an Indian agent in Quantico, 'the spy who loves me'. Priyanka's image from a sober fun-loving girl to a rough-tough lady is perhaps because of the transformation she had in Mary Kom. The film was not screened in all parts of the State, may be because of the sound. But it was watched by one and sundry in private, 'for your eyes only'.

A few months back we were present in a function in a great historic hall 'on her majesty's service'. We could not interact as there was a sea of VIPs. Till 2020 if she continues with the present level of fitness and with the existing unbeatable style in the same weight, we can expect a glorious result. The 'spectre' of bronze must be changed to 'goldfinger' in Tokyo.

While serving the country as a pugilist and as a Member of the Upper House of Parliament we all believe that Mary Kom will stand up for the cause of our students, boundary-pillars, territorial integrity, ethnic harmony and peaceful-co-existence . People are celebrating her victory and she is the real Jewel of Manipur; 'diamonds are forever'.

Mary's Boxing Academy at Imphal will certainly breed 'the man (men) with the golden gun (gloves)' world class pugilists to prove that 'the world is not enough' for them. They will go much beyond 'Bond 25'.
