Devendro, a young promising boxer of Manipur, who recently qualified for the Lodon Olympics 2012 says he is confident of winning Gold. He is the youngest of the 4 siblings of L. Jugindro Singh (father) and L. Maklembi (mother).
Devendro at a very age joined the army after completing his matriculation. He has been since then trained at the Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune from 2003
Since his childhood he had been drawn a great deal for sports and gave his serious thought for boxing since he was 9.

He said that he was inspired to take up boxing by his sister L. Shusila Devi, who is also a boxer and two time National Champion.
According to Devendro his Sister is like a guiding spirit for him and he acquired all the basic knowledge about boxing is from her and still continue to so.
Besides boxing he loves to play football, watching television.
"I never expected that I would be qualify for the London games, there are many senior competitive boxers, I am happy and surprised", said Devendro.

Devendro got qualified during the world championship trial at Patiala, Punjab senior camp which also reported to be first ever senior category under chief coach Sandu.
He has participated in various competition and championship both National and International and won medals.
He gives the credits to families, who trained and guided him, especially his sister, Shusila.
There is no shortcoming during his training but expressed his desire to have a consistent coach.

In an interview by Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) secretary general P.K. Muralidharan Raja , Devendro feels lucky to have been selected for the World Championship inspite of the tough competitors in his wieght category. And as he was selected, his aim was to get through with every obstacles on his way. Since 2005, his aim was to compete in the Olympics, if not in 2012 than in 2016 but fortunately for everyone and him, he was qualified for 2012 London Olympics.
In every match his only aim is to win, no matter what. Even though he is new to major boxing events, he dosn't feel afraid of anyone. His role idol is Boxer Suranjoy and feels that he is a true brother. His father is so proud of him and we too are.
