Times of India | TNN | Jul 19, 2012, 04.40AM IST
The state government has decided to give Rs one lakh each as financial assistance to the five Manipuri athletes, who are participating in the forthcoming London Olympics.
Meanwhile, the Olympic fever has enveloped the valley as people are thronging electronic gadget outlets in Imphal city to buy large-screen televisions to watch the world's biggest sports extravaganza scheduled to begin from July 27.
"I bought a big screen television set from the market for my sons. Now we are ready to watch the Olympics. To ensure witnessing the events live, we urge the government to provide uninterrupted power supply during the games," said Tomba Sharma.
