Maibam Itomba's Guinness World Record attempt : A Key Note Address on 14 Oct 2012

Maibam Itomba Meitei :: Guinness world Record attempt in action pull up at Imphal on Oct 14 2012

Hon'ble Chief Guest , Dr. T. Meinya Singh, Member of Parliament of India, President Shri W. Brajabidhu Singh, Hon'ble Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly-Respected Guest of Honour, Shri M. Okendra Singh, Guinness World Record Holder (Samban lei Sekpil) 2002, Print and Electronic media of National and state and distinguished Invitees and wel-wishers.

To day's function is a very important function in the history of Manipur and it is an attempt to Guinness World Records by pull up by little fingers by a Manipuri named Shri Maibam Itomba Meitei.

Shri Maibam Itomba Meitei of Uripok Naoremthong Samushang Lairembi Leirak is the last and 6th son of Shri Maibam Churamani Meitei and Smt Maibam ongbi Chandrashakhi Devi. He was born on 1/1/1988.

In the earlier stage of his life, Itomba Meitei had a weak and thin body but he wanted to become a healthy and fit person. Hence, he joined a nearest local Gym. called Uripok Development Body Building Association at Khulem Leikai, Imphal. From there, he initiated his Physical Exercise regularly. After that, he joined SAI sports Complex, Takyel for more improvement his body.

All his efforts pertaining to physical exercises were undesirable by his poor parents. Itomba understood what his parents wanted. So, he decided to take share for maintenance of his family and later he joined a small work shop of Iron and Steel Industry to earn something his requirements. In the meantime, he did not avoid his physical exercise. He regularly attended Gym in the early morning and in the evening also after returning from the work place.

In the mist of his hard labour, he participated in the State Level Weight lifting Championship (from llth-12th Jan).2007 held at Khuman Lampak Sport Complex in the weight Category of 50 Kg, where he got first. In the same year he joined to the All India SAI inter Weight lifting Championship (from 7th - 12th Sep) 2007 at Vishakhapatnam (AP). In that competition he got 2nd position, Besides, he participated the 4th Sub Junior (Boys) National Championship (from 22nd- 24th Nov) 2007. He stood first.

He used to see activities of Guinness World Record Holders through Cable TV. It was the beginning of his dream for becoming a Guinness World Record Holder. He thought, the weakest part of human being is little finger.

But he wanted it to be used as the strongest among other fingers. He also remembered the words of Napoleon Bonaparte that "impossibility is a word which is found in the Dictionary of fools. After few months' practice, he could gain new achievement that his little fingers could support his whole body weight from some seconds to some minutes by hanging himself from a hook, there after he concentrated his mind to obtain as a Guinness World Record Holder in the item of Pull Up by Little Fingers.

His activity pull up was sucessfully shown in the Annual Yaoshang Sport Festival at his locality. On seeing the unexpected actions of Itomba Meitei, local Guardians encouraged him very much and advised him for more achievement. Itomba met the person who is known as Samballei Sekpin, Shri Moirangthem Okendra Singh, the 2nd Guinness World Record Holder of Manipur at Kumbi.

From him he got the inspiration of becoming a Guinness World Record Holder and further important guide lines. It is a difficult task to achieve a World Record but it is hoped that his tremendous efforts may turn his dream into reality. His willingness overcame many difficulties like solving his poor family condition and undesired environments.

So far, we have seen through website the previous highest World record of pull up by little fingers. The present maximum number is only 16 in a minute by an American, whereas ltomba can perform the same event of pull up more than the above. Now ltomba is a person who is trying to break this record.

That is why, the two Associations namely 'The Brilliant Club' of Naoremthong, Samushng and LAKHSH Pioneer Committee' of Naoremthong khulem leikai are taking up the initiative of organizing this unique function in the interest of the record seeker Shri Maibam ltomba Meitei and in the interest of general public of the State.
