MSAP Sports Meet in association with AMAND at Pune on 26-27 January 2018

MSAP SPORTS MEET CUM ELECTIONS HELD IN ASSOCIATION WITH AMAND. NEW OFFICE BEARERS APPOINTED.

Manipur Students’ Association, Pune held MSAP Sports’ Meet cum Annual General Meeting, a two day event to celebrate the undying spirit of Sports among the Manipuri youth residing in Pune and to mark the installation of a new set of Office bearers. The event which saw the participation of more than 200 people from all walks of life was held on 26th January 2018 and 27th January 2018 at Jagtap Stadium, SRPF Group 2, Wanowrie, Pune, Maharshtra.

The Opening ceremony was graced by Sir Thangjam Ibohal, Retired Stadium Supervisor, Department of Sports, Government of Manipur, as Chief Guest and with a torch ceremony by the students, the event was declared open at 9am IST of 26 January 2018.

The event was organised with an objective to bring together the students of Pune who belong to Manipur under one umbrella and to foster the spirit of sportsmanship which is an inborn characteristic of Manipuri youth.

Various sporting events viz. Football for boys and Football for girls, Cricket for boys and track and field events from 100m race, 4X100 relay race, 4000m, Shotput for men and women. MSAP also organised social bonding sports event like spoon race for children, blind hit, musical chairs, chess, etc. Overall the event was attended by about 300 individuals including children, students both boys and girls, working professionals, families and members of AMAND.

Team “Ten Star FC” representing the Tangkhul Shimkhur of Pune won the trophy for Football in boys’ category with Team “Kuki Students’ Organisation, Pune” following as runners up for the same.

MSAP also held its first ever Girls Football Tournament, Team “The Great Thoibi’s FC” won the first prize followed by Team “Chiru Christian Fellowship” as runner up. For boys’ cricket Team “Maka Lamna” bagged the trophy this time, followed by Team “Eastern Eagles” as runner up.

The prize distribution was held alongside the MSAP executive elections on the latter part of the final day ie 27th Jan 2018.

o Romen Lourembam as General Secretary,
o Mayengbam Nganthoi Meitei as Treasurer,
o Aarshi Longjam as Joint Secretary of MSAP,
o Nandini Chanu Keisham as Cultural Secretary,
o Thounaojam Shajeena as Women's Secretary,
o Sanathoi Oinam as Sports Secretary and
o Laishram Bishonath Khuman as Joint Sports Secretary,
was installed for the tenure 2018-19.

After the prize distribution ceremony, the event was declared closed by respected Sir Thangjam Ibohal.

MSAP would like to express their sincere thanks to all the people involved in making the two day event successful. MSAP also wishes to convey to the general public that it will work towards the betterment of student society and to promote feelings of unity, peace, devotion to academics and integrity among the Manipuri students residing in Pune and various populations residing in Pune.

MSAP also wishes to express their deep desire to organise a wide range of events in future in a bigger way and covering a bigger crowd.
