Kakching WW-II Memorial Run on 9th September 2018

Kakching witnessed an electrifying atmosphere of harmony, vivacity and solidarity on 9th September 2018 during the event of Kakching WW-II Memorial Run. The collaborative initiative of Assam Rifles and Kakching Runners received an overwhelming response from the people of Manipur. 890 participants and 2500 spectators were part of this entire event.

This event has marked the beginning of a new era in the state of Manipur, through which it can attract the sports enthusiastic people in future from the various parts of the world. The Run was conducted on a route of 25 km, which was chosen selectively to cover the vividity of Manipur as well as to commemorate the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers of WW - II. The event was organised in two categories 25 km and 08 Km Fun Run. The 25 km was further subdivided into four categories, above 45 years male and female and below 45 years male and female.

The proceedings of the event were graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Dr Najma Heptulla, as the chief guest wherein she witnessed the cultural programmes and felicitated the winners of various categories. The winner of 25 km run over 45 years female was Ms Y Bidisini and male was Naib Subedar Ramesh Ram. The winner of 25 Km run below 45 years female is Ms M K Meenarashi and male is Mr Kh Romajit.

The enthusiasm and vibrance of participants and the spectators was at pinnacle during the entire duration of the Memorial Run. The response of the people of Manipur has proved this event to be successful in spreading the message of peace, harmony and health in the state.

The collective efforts of Assam Rifles and people of Manipur in making this event memorable and successful will go a long way in strengthening the bond of faith and trust between the people of Manipur and the Assam Rifles.
