Name: Nongdamba Naorem
Position: Midfielder
Father’s name: Naorem rajen
Mother’s name: Naorem Ongbi Kumudini

Nongdamba’s father Naorem Rajen has never seen his son play. Rajen wished that his son should study well and make a career out of it. He never wanted Nongdamba to play football.
He tried time and again to divert Nongdamba’s mind from football but was unsuccessful. The gap between Nongdamba and his father widened after he passed Matric exam. Nongdamba decided to quit his studies to the utter dismay of his father.
However, Rajen has ultimately decided to watch his son play in the U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017 after a long stint of aloofness from his son’s sports life. Nongdamba hails from Kakching. He studied at Sainik school Imphal from class 6 till 10th.
Once when he was watching the Euro Cup on the TV in the school hostel, he got punished. When he was asked to apologise, he refused. The school authority later realised his love for football and decided to nurture his talent.
Nongdamba represented his school many times in All India Sainik School Football Tournaments. His school even won two of the tournaments. Even when he was a student he got the opportunity to participate in the All India Subroto Cup.
Nongdamba had a great difference of opinion with his father regarding football and this difference later led to hid decision to quit studies.
He went to Pune to enrol himself for the trial of selection for training at the D.S. Shivajiyans Football Club and got selection.
He played for this club for one year from 2015 and in 2016 he started playing for Minerva Club.
When his team participated in a tournament at Chandigarh, he scored 18 goals and came to be known as the “Goal Machine”. He is at present playing for the Minerva Club.
Nongdamba has trained under Louis D. Norton for the U-17 World Cup squad. He has been included in this team only before 6 months.
In this short period, he has received much exposure and expertise for foreign display. His parents Rajen and Kumudini are over-excited for his new endeavour.
