First Academic and Activity Council Meeting, National Sports University

First meeting of the Academic and Activity Council of National Sports University was held today, at 10:00 am on 1lth November, 2020, at the Conference Hall of Manipur Olympic Bhavan, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in physical as well as virtual mode.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Shri. R.C. Mishra, 1AS (Retd), Chairman of the Council, introduced all the members of the Academic and Activity Council to the Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, Shri. Kiren Rijiju.

On this occasion, Shri. Kiren Rijiju Hon'ble MOS (YAS) addressed the Council and said that the Vice-Chancellor and the AAC members are given full freedom to take up all necessary steps to bring up the University at International level.

The University will focus on sports education, training, research, sports science and related high-tech areas. lie further said that the Central Govt. will provide full support on the resource mobilization and infrastructure development to make the University a centre of excellence and make India a Global Sports power house and a great sporting Nation.

The Infrastructure will be designed with modern and environmental friendly campus with Local Manipur touch. The Minister further urged all the former players, coaches, officers to come together and contribute directly or indirectly in the whole process.

The Vice-Chancellor Shri R.C. Mishra urged the Council Members to contribute their valuable expertise and experience in meeting the challenges of setting a new Institution of NSU. NSU is not only new but unique - one of its kind and there are no models in the country as well abroad to copy from.

This puts a heavy responsibility on the soldiers of the Members of Academic Council to lay a strong foundation, which will shape the future of the University.

He also assured that no stone will be left unturned in doing all that is required to make NSU a world class Institution to realize its vision of "Be the best and lead the rest"

The Council thereafter took up the formal agenda for the fleeting and amongst others approved the University course curriculum. The council also authorized the Vice-Chancellor to constitute a committee to examine the course curriculum with reference to NH) 2020 and recommend changes to align them with NEP 2020.

Further the members also suggested that the University should tie up with various sports federations to enhance employability of its students.

From Manipur, Shri Sapam Nishikanta and Shri Nilakomol Singh, members of the Academic & Activity Council attended the meeting.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Registrar and member secretary of the Academic & Activity Council.
