In a moment filled with pride, hope and purpose, Nirupama Sarangthem has been selected to represent Manipur at the upcoming Miss Universe India 2025 pageant. A familiar face in the pageant circuit, Nirupama’s journey is not just about beauty and recognition, it is about using her voice for her people and Manipur.
Hailing from Kakching Khunou Lamhaba Leikai, Nirupama stands strong with unwavering support from her parents, Sarangthem Rajen Singh and Sarangthem Mangolei Devi.
Nirupama has previously won Mega Miss Northeast and participated in several pageants such as Miss Manipur and Orange Queen, steadily building her presence as a confident and compassionate young woman. Now, she steps onto the national stage with not just a crown in mind, but a message in her heart.

Speaking about her selection, she shared, “It’s an honour to represent Manipur, a land of culture, courage and resilience. But I carry more than just pride, I carry a responsibility. Our state has been going through an incredibly difficult time, and I hope to use this platform to bring national attention to the realities we are facing, especially the voices of those often unheard.”
Manipur has witnessed months of unrest, tension, and displacement, leaving communities grappling with pain, uncertainty, and loss. In this backdrop, Nirupama’s representation symbolises hope, unity and the power of youth to ignite conversations that matter.

Pursuing a degree in Psychology, she is deeply committed to mental health advocacy and promoting positive use of social media, especially in challenging online abuse and trolling. Her goal is to create safe spaces for dialogue, both online and offline.
“The crown is just one part of the journey,” she said. “What I truly want is to stand on that stage and speak for my people, to show the country that even in the face of adversity, Manipur rises with strength and grace.”
