Facing failures with a smile
Dr Sumedha Kushwaha *
Many a time in life, we are successful. We are very positive, aim high, think big, and beautiful and better. Those times in life are impermanent. Like it’s said- All good things come to end ! There are also, times in life when we fail.
The reasons could be many and varied. Sometimes, the reasons are in your control. Just, if you did something right in the process or the chain of events, it could have gone right. However, there are times, when you feel, what was my fault ?
I could have done nothing better to make this work. This was beyond my control. And those times, when you look back- you contemplate and you realize that I made a mistake. But in reality that wasn’t a mistake at all.
It was one more reaction in the chain of events. And that failure was crucial. Because if you didn’t fall that particular moment- you would never get up with so much more vigor. So, probably nothing in life happens just like that, how we react to those situations determine the course of life.
That breakup, or that exam in which you failed, or that job in which you performed miserably, or loss of anyone in the family- anything major or minor- it teaches us. The problem is we look at life as an enemy.
Most people question themselves- Why is it happening to me ? They will question but never do anything about it. The spirit in life should be to learn from each moment and understand what it’s trying to communicate. Life talks to us every single moment, but we are so consumed in the moment, that it keeps us away from life. Sounds ironical but that’s true.
Treat your own life as a story- it is completely yours! You couldn’t choose the beginning but you certainly have the choice to choose the end.
Try to make as many edits and amends as you want. Nothing is right or wrong- everything that makes you happy adds value. Do not take each day for granted. All experiences count at the end of the day. They add up to who you are, what you believe in, what you stand up for, and what do you want to become.
Don’t just pass time, try to create history. And if you think, this sound cliché , it certainly does. But the honest truth is- that every human being has that potential.
The point is how many people are awakened to that truth. God resides in all of us- then why do we look outside. Look inside of your wonderful minds and hearts- they have all answers. Make most of your time on this planet- it’s a limited time period offer.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Make as many you want. But learn, don’t regret.
Treat these as stepping stones to something new and better- not as failures, When you change the way you react to situations- that’s when situations will change too.
