Thokchom ningol Brindasabi was born on 31st March 1934 at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, Imphal.

She is the daughter of Thokchom Chaobi Singh and Thokchom ongbi Atonshija. She served as a visiting guru at JN Manipur Dance Academy.

From the age of five Brindasabi learned the art of goura lila, Krishna lila and nat sankirtan from famous gurus like Guru S Ibomcha, Iboton, Paka, Ngangom Jugindro, Naran, Gulapi etc.

She is also an approved artiste of All India Radio, Imphal. She came to be well known in the role of a mother in various Goura lilas and Krishna lila.

Not only in the state, Brindasabi also participated in many Goura lila, Krishna lila and Nat Sankirtana festivals held in different parts of India.

She has been honoured with
Manipur State Kala Akademi Award 1989,
Natyabhusan 1999,
Manipuri Sahitrya Parishad Imphal;
Certificate of Honour 2000,
Manipur Manoharsai Sabha;
Sangeet Natak Award 2007 and
Kala Kshetra Guru Award 2013.

Her published books included Manipur Gouranga Lila and Udukhol and Gosta Lila.

In recognition of her contribution in the field of Manoharsai, Brindasabi Devi was conferred with Thokchom ongbi Manimacha Devi Ningshing Mana in the 83rd annual conference of Manipur Sahitya Parishad Imphal.
