Success isn’t luck—it’s built on habits, resilience, and a strong mindset. Coming from a humble background where even the basics were a struggle, I’ve learned that the right habits can change lives.

I’ve worked as a laborer inside a hydroelectric power tunnel just months after a major surgery, taught in a remote village, and fought my way into the corporate world. Today, I’m a Director of Marketing Operations at a global firm, and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the right habits make all the difference.

Sometimes, we feel lost—unsure of where to start, how to keep going, or what really matters. The truth is, success is built in the moments when no one is watching. It’s in the daily habits we form, the routines we stick to, and the discipline we build. If you want to be unstoppable, learn from the best, keep refining yourself, and never stop pushing forward.

Here are 10 habits that have shaped my journey and will make you truly unstoppable:

1. Decide Fast, Adjust Later

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” – Walt Disney

Opportunities don’t wait for perfect conditions. Overthinking kills momentum. If you hesitate too long, you’ll miss your shot. Making decisions quickly doesn’t mean being reckless; it means trusting your instincts and having the courage to act. When I first applied to Zeta Global, I wasn’t sure I was ready, but I took the leap. That decision changed my life.

The truth is, no decision is ever perfect, but waiting too long only leads to missed chances. Once you make a choice, take responsibility for it, and if things don’t go as planned, adapt and move forward. Most successful people don’t have all the answers when they start—they figure things out along the way.

2. Control Your Time, Control Your Life

“The key is in not spending time, but in investing it.” – Stephen R. Covey

Time is your most valuable asset. Guard it like gold. Early in my journey, juggling work and studies taught me that if I didn’t take control of my schedule, someone else would. A 2022 study found that 82% of people don’t have a dedicated time management system, leading to inefficiency and stress. When you don’t plan your time effectively, you become reactive instead of proactive.

Set clear priorities, schedule deep work sessions, and eliminate distractions. The most successful individuals schedule their day with intention, ensuring that every hour is spent on activities that push them closer to their goals.

3. Work Harder Than Everyone Else

“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” – Thomas Jefferson

There were days I worked under extreme conditions—manual labor inside a dark tunnel, my body aching from past injuries. But I knew every struggle was taking me one step closer to my dream. Hard work is the price of admission to anything great.

Success isn’t handed out—it’s earned, day by day, through effort and sacrifice. Many people wish for success, but few are willing to put in the consistent work required. If you are willing to work harder than most people, you’ll stand out in any field.

4. Adopt a Growth Mindset

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” – Henry Ford

The difference between people who succeed and those who don’t is mindset. After working odd jobs, I realized that getting a degree could change my life. I didn’t let my past define me—I pushed forward. People with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities are set in stone, while those with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities to learn.

If you believe you can improve, learn, and adapt, nothing can stop you. The best way to develop a growth mindset is to see failures as stepping stones rather than roadblocks. Every setback contains a lesson that can help you grow stronger.

5. Discipline Over Motivation

“You will never always be motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined.”

Motivation is unreliable—it comes and goes. The real game-changer is discipline. There were nights I was exhausted, but I still studied, applied for jobs, and upskilled. If you only take action when you “feel like it,” you’ll never reach your full potential.

The most successful people in the world don’t wait for motivation; they build routines that keep them moving forward, even on their worst days. Motivation is great for getting started, but discipline is what keeps you going when things get tough.

6. Learn to Take Hits and Keep Going

“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” – Vince Lombardi

Life will test you. When I had to pause my education to support my family, it felt like a dead end. But I refused to stay down. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. It’s not about how many times you fall—it’s about how many times you rise.

The most resilient people understand that failures and rejections are just temporary obstacles. Instead of dwelling on setbacks, they focus on solutions. If you develop the ability to bounce back quickly, no challenge will ever break you.

7. Surround Yourself With Winners

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn

Your circle shapes your future. I made a conscious decision to surround myself with ambitious, driven people who pushed me to be better. If you want to grow, be around people who inspire and challenge you. A recent study highlights that successful individuals often share habits that maximize productivity and focus. Choose your influences wisely.

If the people around you constantly complain and settle for mediocrity, you’ll likely do the same. Surround yourself with people who are constantly striving for more, and you’ll naturally elevate your own ambitions.

8. Keep Learning, Always

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

Education was my way out of poverty. Even after getting a good job, I never stopped learning. Today, I hold certifications in over 100 skill sets and actively contribute on platforms like LinkedIn. The world is changing fast—if you’re not learning, you’re falling behind.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking that learning stops after school. The most successful people are lifelong learners. They read books, attend seminars, take online courses, and constantly seek knowledge to improve themselves.

9. Stop Overthinking and Take Action

“Dream big. Start small. But most of all, start.” – Simon Sinek

Ideas mean nothing without execution. I’m where I am today because I took action. Stop waiting for the perfect moment—start now. Even if you fail, you’ll learn something valuable that will push you forward. Too many people wait for ideal conditions before taking action, but the truth is, there is no perfect time. The best way to make progress is to start small and keep moving.

10. Believe in Yourself, No Matter What

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” – Suzy Kassem

In the beginning, no one believed in me—except for myself. If you don’t back yourself, no one else will. Confidence doesn’t mean knowing everything; it means trusting that you can figure things out. Even when the odds are stacked against you, push forward with unshakable belief. People who achieve great things don’t necessarily have extraordinary talent; they have extraordinary self-belief.

My journey from being a laborer to a corporate leader proves that no background can define your future. The best way to grow is to adopt the habits of the most successful individuals while constantly refining yourself.
