Joining the global celebration of World Radio Day 2025, the Rongdai Students’ Union organized an Academic Competition for its members to explore and showcase their talents and creative abilities. In his address, the President, Mr. Poujiabthai Gangmei (Zeppuh), reflected on the importance of radio. He emphasized that for over a century, radio has played a transformative role in shaping the world.
Despite the disruptions caused by the advent of the internet, mobile phones, and social media, radio remains a vital medium for sharing news and information. While younger generations may underestimate its utility compared to older generations, he stressed that it is never too late to rediscover its value.
Furthermore, he highlighted the countless benefits of listening to radio. Not only does it provide fresh news and insights, but it also cultivates the art of attentive listening and sharpens one’s focus on nuanced details. Its enduring relevance is evident in the FM radio services integrated into most modern phones and cars—a testament to its irreplaceable role in our lives.
On the competition front, the events included mock Radio Broadcasts, Radio Quizzes, Painting, Storytelling of Radio Memories, and more. A significant number of students participated, showcasing their inherent talents and creative sides.
The mock announcer event added a unique flavor to the competition, with participants delivering lively and engaging scripts. In the quiz segment, participants demonstrated their keen interest in general knowledge.
The winners of the competition will be honored during the Annual Day celebration of the Rongdai Students’ Union. Overall, the program was a resounding success, celebrating the relevance of radio while providing a platform for students to express their creativity and intellect.
