Valedictory Function of North East NSS Festival 2025
The five-day North East NSS Festival 2025, hosted by the NSS Cell of Manipur University, concluded today. A valedictory function was held in connection with the closing ceremony, marking the successful culmination of the event in the Auditorium, Manipur University, today June 6, 2025.
The function marked the successful culmination of a vibrant week-long celebration of unity, service, and youth empowerment through cultural exchanges, interactive sessions, and academic engagements.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), who delivered an inspiring address to the assembled NSS volunteers coming from across the Northeast states. In his speech, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of community engagement beyond regular NSS activities, urging volunteers to extend their service to areas that directly impact public life.
He highlighted future initiatives being planned by YAS, such as book fairs, talk shows, and interactive sessions with past achievers. He expressed the department's intent to collaborate with NSS teams, NYK units, and local clubs in these upcoming programs.
He encouraged the adoption of key public places, such as parks, markets, and community spaces, by NSS units, so that volunteers take greater responsibility in maintaining and promoting awareness in these spaces. Furthermore, he called upon volunteers to be proactive in offering voluntary services whenever there is a need in society, during times of natural calamities, floods, pandemics, and other emergencies.

Special Guest of today's function, Prof. Th. Binoy Singh, Registrar (i/c), Manipur University, appreciated the North East NSS Festival, describing it as a grand success.
Shri N.C. Deori, Youth Officer, Regional Office (NER), Guwahati, noted that six out of the eight northeastern states had participated in the festival and praised the commitment of both the Programme
Officers and NSS student volunteers. He emphasized that the State-level Programme Officers play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of national-level programs, recognizing their leadership as instrumental to the growth and impact of NSS.

Prize winners of the various cultural competitions held during the festival were felicitated during the function. The NSS Programme Coordinator of DM University, Imphal, along with the State Youth Officers of NYK, Imphal, were also honoured on the occasion.
Dr. L. Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University, spoke on the responsibility of NSS in shaping responsible citizens. He extended heartfelt thanks to the Director of YAS, the Registrar of Manipur University, and the Youth Officer, Regional Office (NER), Guwahati, for their invaluable support. He also conveyed his deepest gratitude to all the Programme Officers and NSS volunteers who participated in the event, acknowledging their tireless efforts that contributed to the success of the festival.
The valedictory ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude to all participating teams, organizing members, and officials. The North East NSS Festival 2025 successfully fostered a sense of
unity and social responsibility in strengthening youth engagement across the northeastern states.
