‘Tulsi Nonglik’
For the first time in Manipur, the College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal has created "Tulsi Nonglik," or Tulsi-flavored water at the Food Processing Pilot Plant, CAU, Lamphelpat, which is a natural immunity booster water with a Tulsi flavour extracts.
On March 22, 2025, Shri A.K. Bhalla, His Excellency, the Governor of Manipur, officially inaugurated the Tulsi Flavoured-Water Plant in presence of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon. Vice Chancellor of Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Prof. Indira Sarangthem, Director of Instruction, Prof. Ngaseppam Iboyaima Singh, Dean, Prof. Ng. Joykumar Singh, College of Food Technology, CAU, Lamphelpat, and other officials.
Tulsi leaf extract is used to make "Tulsi Nonglik," which comes in ready-to-drink 180 ml, 500 ml, and 1 L bottles. The herb Tulsi, sometimes called holy basil, has several health and medicinal benefits. It is good for the whole body to drink Tulsi water in the morning on an empty stomach.
Tulsi has been shown to increase immunity, treat throat and respiratory conditions, lower blood pressure and stress, enhance heart health, lessen acid reflux and heartburn, and prevent mouth ulcers, control of blood sugar, enhancement of digestion, assistance with breathing, and aiding in weight reduction because of its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, adaptogenic properties (stress, anxiety and fatigue), and antioxidant qualities.
