'Preservation of Cultural Heritage' seminar at Tamei
The Liangmai Arts & Culture Association, Manipur (LACA) successfully organised one day seminar program on 14th March, 2025 at Chiang (Langmei) Village, Tamei Sub-division, Tamenglong District on the theme "Preservation of Cultural Heritage"
Speaking in the event Mr. Nampibou Marinmai, IIS Director, DD Aizawl, Govt. of India, a resource person in his address, he emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and upholding the rich, age-old heritage of the Liangmai community, highlighting the adverse effects of urbanization, colonization, and loss of identity and shared about the ethics and values of our culture.
He expressed that lack of any developmental work in our society is the sign of weakness in individual(s) responsibility. It has become a tradition in our society that we are fond of speaking other dialect rather than our own mother tongue.
In the seminar Dr. Wichamdinbou Mataina, Asst. Professor Tetso College, Dimapur as a resource person spoke on the topic "a uniform writing system in Liangmai to preserve our language digitally". He said education is the only means to develop our literature and majority of the tribes language and spelling are 88 percent abstracted from the religion. To promote script unique code we need to publish more books, newspaper, and through telivision and social media.
Mr. P. Tarising, President LACA acknowledged the delegates and various type of Liangmai traditional shawls was displayed in the seminar and was attended by some prominent leaders like Rev. Dr. Alungbou Newmai, ES LNBA-M, Mathiuchunbou Rimai, President LNKR, Ch Dithinbou Ex-President LNC, Chairmans of Tamei areas Village Authority, Former leaders, Pastors, youth, womenfolk and students of Liangnah School,
