A one-day awareness programme on “Information Security & Emerging Technologies for Senior Govt. Officials” was organized by National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Itanagar in association with the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh on 21st March, 2025 at NERIST, Nirjuli.

The programme was organised as a part of MeitY, Govt. of India sponsored project entitled “Empowerment of Police Personal and Govt. officials through IT and Cyber Security Training”. The inaugural program held at the Seminar Hall, near E.T. Cell, NERIST.

The inaugural program was graced by esteemed dignitaries, namely Prof. Narendranath S., Director NERIST as the Chief Guest, and Er. RK Bigensana Singh, Director In-charge of NIELIT Itanagar (MeitY, Govt. of India), as the Guest of Honour.

Notable figures such as Prof. S. Gao, Dean (Acad.), Prof. M. Chandrasekaran, Dean (Admin.), Prof. Madhu Bala Sharma, Dean (R&D) and Dr. Moirangthem Marjit Singh, Professor (CSE) and the SPoC for NIELIT Itanagar shared their insights during the inaugural program.

Dr. Angom Buboo Singh, Scientist ‘E’ NIELIT Imphal and Sh. Abhijit Debnath, Asst. Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) were the Resource Persons of the program. Topics on information security, cyber security, AI and its applications have been discussed by the resource persons during the program.

The main purpose of this program was to make senior govt. officials aware of information security & emerging technologies that are relevant at present. Around 50 officials from Central & State Government officials attended the program.

Prof. Moirangthem Marjit Singh, CISO NERIST and Er. Yogendra Mohan, CIO NERIST are the Program Coordinator and Co-coordinator respectively.
