Interaction Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at Manipur University
The Interaction Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was successfully conducted on 18th October 2024 at the Court Hall, Manipur University. The event was aimed at raising awareness and providing insights into intellectual property rights, patents, copyrights and trademarks, fostering a deeper understanding among faculty members and research scholars of the university.
The dignitaries present at the event included the Chief Guest, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, and the Speaker, Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
The Guests of Honor were Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar of Manipur University, and Prof. A. Rajmani Singha, Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Manipur University. The event was presided over by Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei, Director of the Research & Development Cell at Manipur University.

Programme Details:
Registration of participants commenced at 1:00 PM. The gathering of dignitaries and delegates took place at Court Hall. Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, delivered the welcome speech.
Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, expressed in his keynote speech that Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) play a crucial role in improving the university's ranking, and Manipur University is also making significant progress in the research ecosystem.
Then at 1:30 PM the Interaction Programme on IPR began, led by Prof. (Dr) Unnat P. Pandit, who provided a comprehensive overview of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, designs, and trademarks. He discussed the importance of intellectual property in research and innovation, encouraging scholars to actively protect their intellectual assets.

Approximately 130 faculty members and research scholars from various departments of the university actively participated in the programme. The event was a grand success, contributing to the growing discourse on intellectual property rights within the university community, paving the way for future initiatives and collaborations in the field of IP protection and management. This year, the IPR will focus on musical instruments. Immediate action will be taken by organizing workshops.
