MaolKeki Memorial Manipur Public School Scholarships

MaolKeki Foundation and Manipur Public School are pleased to announce three annual scholarships to be awarded to three students of Manipur Public School, Koirengei, Manipur, representing students from Class VIII and Class IX.

The Scholarships have been instituted by the MaolKeki Foundation whose Trustee, Dr. Shachi Gurumayum, is an alumnus of the school along with significant financial contributions from other alumni of the school including Ms. Priyadarshini Koijam, Mr. Ngairangbam Saratchandra, and Dr. Thoihen Heisnam.

Manipur Public School was established in 1979 and it is an institution run by the Manipur Public School Society which is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. Once a thriving centre of educational excellence, the school in recent years has struggled due to funding and infrastructural gaps.

The students selected for the scholarships will undergo a selection process that will combine their academic performance, quality of a handwritten essay and performance in a personal interview. The detailed selection process will be shared early next year with the aim to announce the winners by July 2025.

The scholarships were finalized in a discussion between Mr. Rajkumar Imocha Singh, current Principal, Madam Sagolsem Premabati Devi, former Principal, Ms. Dhanamanjuri Sagolsem, current teacher, and Ms. Nirupa Sanjenbam and Dr. Shachi Gurumayum from the MaolKeki Foundation.

Following the finalisation, Principal Imocha said, “I show my hearty thanks to MaolKeki Foundation for their proposal to open a scholarship program. This program will help me to encourage my students”. This initiative is also expected to encourage other alumni to look back at their alma mater with pride and give back what they can to bring the school back to its former glory.

For the students who are thinking of applying for these scholarships, Madam Premabati had the following message, “Believe in yourself for within you lies the potential to achieve extraordinary things!”
