Cleanliness Campaign (SHS 2024) launched at IBSD
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) is the only institute in NER in the ambit of Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India established at Imphal, Manipur and has three Centres in other states of NER including Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim. BRIC-IBSD is working on “Bioresources development and their sustainable use through biotechnological interventions for the socio-economic growth of the North Eastern Region”. IBSD is synergizing different research areas for the development of bioeconomy from bioresources with special reference to NER.
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal has launched a cleanliness campaign “Swachhta Hi Seva, 2024” (SHS 2024) under the leadership of Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director IBSD,
Imphal which will be carried out from 17th September, 2024 to 2nd October, 2024 at IBSD, Imphal with this year’s theme centred on “Behavioral and Ethical Cleanliness,”.
The campaign aims to promote personal habits and social responsibility toward cleanliness, particularly in rural areas. The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to reinforce the idea that maintaining hygiene is a civic duty and a form of public service. Swachh Bharat Day is celebrated annually in honour of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and is part of the larger Swachh Bharat Mission, which marks its 10th anniversary this year.
During the campaign, the focus includes tree plantations, mass cleaning program, students’ awareness programme, workshop on health and well-being etc. During the Swachhata Hi Seva-2024 Campaign all the scientists, scholars and staffs of IBSD joined in the cleanliness campaign to honour the legacy of the Mahatma Gandhi and make Swachhta a way of life.
