Cleaning Drive at Polo Market

The Pro Bono Associates Club and the Legal Care & Support Centre, Department of Law, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, actively participated in a Cleaning Drive at Polo Market on 30th September 2024.

The drive was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign 2024. Prior to the event, Dr. Ravi Kant Mishra, Nodal Officer of the Club, motivated the student volunteers to contribute meaningfully to community service.

He emphasized that as law students, they play a crucial role in shaping society and supporting nation-building. Leading the group of volunteers, Mr. Poujiabthai Zeppuh Gangmei, the Club Coordinator, encouraged the students to set an example for others by promoting civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.

The volunteers also engaged in an awareness campaign, visiting shops across the market to disseminate information on environmental laws and the importance of adhering to these regulations for a cleaner and more sustainable community.

The program was graced by the presence of the District & Sessions Judge of East Khasi Hills, Smt. Dashalene R. Kharbteng, and the Secretary of DLSA East Khasi Hills, Smt. Bandarisha Kharlukhi.

The event also witnessed the participation of prominent social media influencer and eco-activist Nicholas J. Kharnami (Nicky) and lawyers from the Shillong Bar Association, making it a successful and impactful initiative.
