12th convention of PLANNER (library automation in NE)

Rajiv Gandhi University is going to host the three day 12th convention of PLANNER from 19th September to 21st September 2024. The theme of this library and information science based upcoming academic event is ‘Libraries in AI Era: Application and Perspectives’.

This programme is being organised by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhi Nagar, Gujrat in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh. It is an autonomous Inter-University Centre (IUC) of University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

The PLANNER is a North Eastern Region based library automation and networking convention, which is conducted biannually with the underlying objective of promotion of automation in and upliftment of academic libraries in the region.

This programme aims at bringing librarians, library science scholars, experts and students at a forum from across the country. Thus, this programme would prove a milestone in developing insights into the contemporary issues of library and information science.

This programme is a systematic and regular academic event that attempts to provide insights into the prospective academic libraries and information centres. This programme is being organised in Arunachal Pradesh for the first time. It is being sponsored by thirty two sponsors, including JSTOR, DrillBit, Oxford University Press, Clarivate, Springer Nature, Sage, etc.

There are four categories of sponsors sponsoring the event, namely Platinum, Gold, Solver, and Bronze sponsors. Under this academic event, forty eight research articles have been shortlisted for the presentation, divided into three subthemes. This academic event will be graced by the honourable Governor of Arunachal Pradesh as a chief guest.

Prof. Devika P. Madali, Dr. H. D. Hosamani, Mr. Hitesh Kumar Solanki, Dr. Sudhir Kumar Jena, and Dr. Dhananjay Kumar Pandey will be the Programme Director, Convenor, Joint Convenor, Organising Secretary, and Joint Organising Secretary respectively. Prof. A. R. D. Prasad, a notable Indian Information and Library Science academician, information professional and information scientist will deliver a keynote speech during the inaugural session of the event.

Prof. Saket Kushwaha (Vice Chancellor, RGU) and Dr. Nabam Takam Rikam (Registrar, RGU) will also be present in the event. This programme is a mega academic event that will continue for three days and attract academicians and scholars of library and information science from India and outside India as well.

The faculty members from different departments of the varsity have been engaged to make this programme a great successful and memorable one. Dr. Vinod Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce has been given the responsibility of media coverage of the event.
