Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal organized a special webinar on “Bioeconomy of India: An opportunity area for North Eastern Region” on February 15, 2022. The program was addressed by Dr. Thirumalachari Ramasami, Former Secretary to Government of India, Department of Science & Technology & Distinguished Professor of Eminence, Anna University, Guindy, Chennai.
Dr. Ramasami highlighted various opportunities for the development of bioresources of NER to boost the bioeconomy of the region. He highlighted various research opportunities in NER where IBSD and other parts of NE India can contribute to enhance the economy of this region.
Dr. Ramasami appreciated the various initiatives of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India to promote the bioresources of NER in different context. This webinar was organised under the on-going programme of IBSD on “Bioeconomy from Bioresources with special reference to North Eastern Region of India”.
IBSD is organising a series of such programmes to promote local bioresources of NER under the leadership of Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal. Many scientists, students, staff from IBSD, Imphal and other organizations joined the webinar and participated in this programme.
IBSD is organizing such programmes in NER to commemorate the 75 years of Independence as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
