About the College

Established in 1976, Lilong Haoreibi Government College is the only higher educational institute located at the socially, economically and educationally backward Minority Muslims concentrated area in Thoubal District of Manipur. The College has been assessed and accredited in January 2022 with B Grade (2.39 CGPA) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Recognized under section 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, the co-educational institute offers 17 undergraduate programmes in B.A. and B. Sc. with 56 regular teaching faculties. The college has also been approved for B Voc. degree programmes in 5 specialized disciplines namely Agriculture, IT/ITes, Tourism & Hospitality, Yoga & Naturopathy, and Physical Education & Sports. However, only the discipline of Agriculture has been started from the academic session 2020-21.

Lilong Haoreibi College stands alongside the Indo Myanmar International Highway near Usoipokpi hillock, spreading over 16.78 acres of a beautiful landscape at a distance of 15 kilometres from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur.

The College is not yet officially declared as the Minority College but enrols more than 95% of the students belonging to Minorities. At present, 2, 248 students are pursuing BA/BSc degree in Botany, Chemistry, English, Economics, Education, Environmental Science, Geography, History, Home Science, Mathematics, Manipuri, Political Science, Physics, Philosophy, Zoology and B Voc. Agriculture, developed 6 smart classrooms from these academic sessions where high end interactive digital boards are used in the teaching learning process. BSNL leased line internet broadband connectivity with 12MBPS speed has been introduced from this academic session with the campus Wi-Fi facilities. Library automation with KOHA software and e-resources through INFLIBNET has been provided where thousands of text and reference books, e-journals etc. can be accessed.

Lilong Haoreibi College in association with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development Seriperumbudur, has organised successfully a 3-Day Faculty Development Programme on the Role of Teachers in Integrating Skill Development in the Higher Education Through NEP 2020 which was participated by more than 150 faculties serving in various colleges and universities. The College always emphasises the participation of Muslim girl students in games and sports. Recently, the College has hosted the Manipur University Intercollege Volley Ball Tournament (3rd – 6th Nov, 2022) which is also a part of motivation to the Muslim Girls in the field of Sports.
