Abstract: As the 21st century unfolds, complexity is starting to rule everywhere from cells to societies to the universe. Complexity is profound in nature, society, technology and data. The recent Nobel Prize in Physics of the year 2021, was awarded in the field of Complex Systems. In general, complexity researchers look at Complex Systems broadly from three angles namely, dynamics, networks and data.
The speaker gets the privilege of looking at Complex Systems from the viewpoint of a stochastic framework during her ongoing Ph.D. journey. In this talk, she will be sharing some of the works carried out during the journey including stochastic modeling, stochastic dynamics, stochastic fluctuations in non-equilibrium systems, Thermodynamic Uncertainty Relation (TUR) and fractal analysis.
Using analytical and computational techniques within a stochastic framework, her study includes diverse systems, from microscopic to macroscopic scales, including bimolecular chemical reactions model; biological models such as gene regulation, brusselator, circadian rhythm, repressilator; disease dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic, etc.
Roles of fluctuations and time delay are investigated in these models using analytical and numerical methods. Proof of TUR in a non-equilibrium biological model system will be presented. Another way of measuring complexity in data generated by complex systems is fractal analysis. A fractal analysis of astrophysical data will be presented in this talk.
