Lilong Haoreibi College awarded 'B' grade by NAAC
Date : 18 January 2022
Lilong Haoreibi College has been accredited and grade B with 2.39 CGPA in its first cycle of assessment and accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalluru. This is the first time the only college of the minority concentrated block in the valley of Manipur established in 1976 has been accredited under NAAC.
Keeping in view of the dire need for survival of the college in the recent trends of the Government policy on higher education and as no higher educational institution in the country is going to survive unless accredited under NAAC, the process of assessment and accreditation was initiated hurriedly from the month of September 2020 only by establishment of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Alumni Association and various other Committees as per requirements under NAAC.
The Self Study Report (SSR) for assessment was successfully submitted in the month of August 2021 under the supervision of the Director of University & Higher Education, Government of Manipur and Mission NAAC mentors group supported by the local stakeholders more particularly the local MLA of Lilong A/C, the alumni members and students’ union of the last two years i.e., 2019-20 & 2020-21 academic sessions.
The SSR was qualified for data validation and verification (DVV) in the month of September 2021, the DVV approved for Peer Team Visit in November 2021 and the Peer Team of NAAC visited on 10th & 11th January 2022 for physical verifications.
The assessment and accreditation were carried out in the 7 criteria system viz Curricular Aspects; Teaching Learning and Evaluation; Research Innovation and Extension; Infrastructure and Learning Resources; Student Support and Progression; Governance Leadership and Management and Institutional Values and Best Practices.
The unavailability of sufficient data for the last five years because of frequent damages caused by floods and other natural calamities, lack of alumni and local stakeholders in the past and frequent transfer of the principals were some of the main reasons the college could not be accredited since the last 46 years of existence. The principal, faculties, staff and students proposed thanks to all who extended their cooperation in making the assessment and accreditation successful.
