Lilong 14 March 2022; No. No.12/2-4/IQAC (FDP): The 3-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) which commenced on the Blended Mode from the 12th March 2022 at Lilong Haoreibi College, Thoubal District Manipur under the sponsorship of the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu concludes today.
The Blended Mode of the Valedictory function was attended by Professor Inderjeet Sodhi, Department of Public Administration at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development as the Chief Guest(online), Former Director of DDU centre for KAUSHAL at D M College of Science and Principal of Lilong Haoreibi College Dr. Raheijuddin Sheikh as the president(offline).
The FDP was organised for sensitizing the university & college teachers to familiarise quality, competency and employability mandates of the vocational courses to be integrated in the mainstream higher education through NEP 2020, drafting curriculum and syllabus, teachers engaged in industry engagement, examination reforms and assessment criteria, etc. on the theme ‘Role of Teachers in Integrating Skill Development in the Higher Education through NEP 2020’.

The programme was participated offline by 120 faculties including 70 teachers from different universities and colleges and 40 from the host institute Lilong Haoreibi College. The participants were divided into different groups and assigned various works of drafting Qualification Packs (QP), Occupational Standards (OS) and Job Roles of different skill programmes based on the life, works and traditional art & culture of Manipur under the component Lok Vidya as recommended in the NEP 2020.
Participants from Dhanamanjuri Community College under DM University Kh. Ishomani Singh, M. Birjit Singh and S. Anilkumar Singh were feted for developing the Job Roles & Qualification Packs for introducing Sumang Leela as one of the skill courses under ‘Lok Vidya’ as per the mandates of NEP 2020.
The model curriculum and syllabus designed by the 3 participants was based on the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) enforced in 2013 which would remain unchanged in the implementation of the NEP 2020. The draft curriculum and syllabus contained 4 units with the skill component aligned with the performance criteria, critical thinking, problem solving and maintenance of cleanliness etc. with an objective to promote the only artform of Manipur.
There were 14 sessions under the mentorship of eminent personalities including UGC member & Director of DDU Centre for KAUSHAL at Dibrugarh University Dr. Kiran Hazarika, Director of Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Manipur University Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei, Korean Language and Life Skill expert Prof. Hyunkyung Lee, ICT Skills trainer Prof. Joseph Simbani, Communicative English Trainer Prof Irom Gambhir of Manipur University, Registrar Chand Babu Singh, Financial Literacy Skills expert Prof. A. Rajmani Singh and many other experts in the field of integrating skill development in higher education.

There were also two sessions of group discussion on the last day today which were chaired by Dr. Dhanabir Laishram on the theme Changing societal mindsets for integrating vocational education in the higher education and Prof. N. Nimai Singh on the theme: Examination reforms, assessment criteria and quality mandates of Vocational Education. Many recommendations on integrating skill development in higher education were also drafted by the participating faculties.
The 3-day FDP was inaugurated on 12th March 2022 by the Director of University & Higher Education, Manipur Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS with a key presentation on the theme: Strengthening of Colleges & Universities in Manipur for integrating vocational education under NEP 2020.
The entire proceedings of the 3 Day hectic academic sessions were conducted in the Blended Mode where the faculties and coordinator of the programme of the sponsoring Institute Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development were joining online in the virtual mode from Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. This is the first of its kind after the COVID 19 pandemic where FDP programme was conducted in such a Blended Mode.
