Paomee Welfare Foundation Announces Retirement of Five Trustees, Nomination of New Trustees, and Election of New Office Bearers The Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a cornerstone of community development and journalistic integrity in Manipur, proudly announces the retirement of five esteemed trustees, the nomination of three new trustees, and the election of new office bearers. These decisions were formalized during the 32nd Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting held on April 16, 2025, at the Manipur Press Club, marking a significant milestone in the Foundation’s commitment to transparent governance and dynamic leadership.
In accordance with the rectified Deed of the Trust, which mandates a three-year term for trustees with one-third retiring annually, the following five trustees have concluded their service on the Board, effective immediately: Ksh. Meghajit Singh, Asem Bhakta, Ningombam Jitenkumar Singh, Aribam Balkrishna Sharma and Dr. R.K. Nimai Singh. These trustees have been instrumental in advancing PWF’s mission to support the socio-economic and community welfare aspirations of the Paomee community in Manipur. Their contributions, spanning over half a decade for some, include strengthening community and welfare programs.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our retiring trustees for their dedication and leadership,” said Shri N. Tombi Raj, newly elected Chairman of PWF. “Their legacy will continue to guide our efforts to uplift our community and uphold journalistic integrity.”
To fill three of the five vacant trustee positions, the Board of Trustees, adhering to the rectified Deed’s provision for open voice vote nominations, unanimously nominated the following individuals:
Ningthoukhongjam Satyajeet – a journalist of integrity with extensive experience in reporting and community advocacy, known for championing press freedom in Manipur,
Ms. Joyshree Usham – an award-winning woman journalist recognized for her in-depth coverage of social issues affecting marginalized communities, bringing expertise in community-driven story and
Babie Shirin – another woman award-winning journalist celebrated for her commitment to ethical journalism and her work highlighting challenges faced by Manipur’s marginalized populations.
The remaining two vacancies will be filled by nominations from the AMWJU Standing Committee by the next BoT meeting. The new trustees are expected to bring fresh perspectives to PWF’s initiatives, particularly in addressing gender issues and advancing educational and welfare programs.
During the 32nd BoT meeting, the Board re-elected the remaining Trustees as per the provision of the Deed and elected new office bearers to lead the Foundation’s operations.
The following individuals were unanimously elected:
Chairman: N. Tombi Raj;
Vice-Chairman: Pradip Phanjoubam (re-elected);
Secretary: Borun Thokchom;
Treasurer: K. Sarojkumar Sharma (re-elected);
Former Chairman and Secretary, Wangkhemcha Shamjai and Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, along with Trustees, Imocha Elangbam, Sh. Gautam Sharma, and K. Sharatchandra Sharma are to guide the Trust as its Trustees.
This blend of new and re-elected leadership ensures continuity while injecting fresh energy into PWF’s strategic vision, including expanding community welfare initiatives.
