Imphal, February 25: While strongly condemning the killing of three students at Thangal Surung on February 22, the KSO Ghqs has urged upon the KNO/KLA to make amend of its wrongdoings and admit its mistake as per Kuki customary laws.

A press release issued by the student body appealed to all militant groups to refrain from armed confrontation to avoid any civilian casualty and to maintain peace and calm.

As regards the controversy over establishment of NIT in the State, the KSO decried the Government's stance to set up the institute at Langol.

Strongly condemning the act of land demarcation for establishment of NIT at Langol amidst strong protest which led police to baton charge the protesters injuring 12 women, the KSO asserted that land acquisition for the institute at Langol would entail destruction/eviction of six high schools, 4 orphanages, 10 religious establishments, 317 houses and 274 plots and displacement of more than 1860 people.

The KSO, while appealing for immediate reversal of the Government's plan to set up NIT at Langol, conveyed support to the demand of the CDSU to establish the same institute in Churachandpur.
