Imphal, January 07: As a pre-emptive measure to avert breach of peace, disturbances to public tranquillity and danger to human lives and properties ahead of the Assembly elections, restrictions under Section 144 of CrPC have been imposed in Imphal West district, said a notification issued by District Magistrate Imphal West A Ibocha.

According to the restriction order, assembly of five or more persons and carrying of licensed guns, sticks, stone, firearms, and weapons of any descriptions or objects which can be used as offensive weapons have been prohibited with effect from 5 pm today, it added.
