Imphal, May 11 2010: A woman tracking all the way on NH-53 to reach home without food when the bus she was travelling in from Imphal could not proceed further to reach Jiribam due to the bandh and blockade, has died at Sibilong area today.

Police report said that the 70-year old woman, Takhellambam Kombirei left Imphal for her home at Champranagar in Jiribam sub-division of Imphal East District on a bus.

However, the bus was not allowed to proceed further from Noney by bandh and blockade supporters.

The dead body is still lying at the Nungba Police Station as the family and the residents of Jiribam have refused to take back the body.

They are demanding adequate compensation to the family of the deceased and also the government to make efforts to bring an end to the prolonged economic blockade imposed on the NH-53 .
