Imphal, August 24: The identity of the suspected PULF cadre shot dead by a combined force of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 34 Assam Rifles in a reported encounter at Thoubal Haokha in the night of August 22 has been established.

The slain individual has been identified as one Md Ajit Khan alias Khaba alias Michael (28) s/o Abdul Majid of Thoubal Moijing Thoubalmayum.

According to family members, Ajit Khan was unmarried.

Even as he used to abuse SP capsules and indulge in rowdy activities, he was not related to any UG group, they contended.

The corpse was claimed by family members after post mortem at Lilong PHC today.
