Imphal, May 09 2010: Villagers attempted to set on fire a security barrack mean for road protection force at T-Khullen under Senapati police station last night as protestors targeting government offices in hill districts continue.

Meanwhile, two iron plates of a bridge along the NH-53 at New Kaiphundai village were taken out to prevent movement of vehicles by some armed miscreants this afternoon, a report received here said.

Reports said that the attempt to torch the security barrack at T-Khullen was performed by the villagers of T Khullen and Mayangkhang villages last night.

As the structure could not be set on fire, villagers broken down window panes and doors of the barrack where no security forces was station.

Two SDO offices at Chingai and Kamjong of Ukhrul district were also set on fire by suspected Muivah supporters late last night.

In the arson, furniture and office documents of the offices were turned into residue, reports said.

With two offices bunt down, so far miscreants have set on fire over 16 government offices in hill districts of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati.

On the other hand, some people reportedly back by armed unidentified taken out two iron plate of a bridge on a river at New Kaiphundai along the NH-53 in the afternoon apparently to block movement good carrying vehicles from Jiribam towards Tamenglong.

On the other hand, an Imphal bound truck carrying iron rod stranded near the Kohima Bypass at Zupza was set on fire by miscreants.

The truck bearing registration number MN04-1440 was stranded there for the last many days due to the tension arising out at Mao gate to block Muivah entering the state and NSF imposition of ban on Manipur vehicle in Nagaland.
