Imphal, May 04 2010: Protests against government decision to prevent Th Muivah's entry into the state were staged at various in Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul and Chandel districts today.

A huge rally was marched down the streets at Tamenglong headquarters and sit in protests were staged at Maram Bazar and Chandel district headquarters.

A sit-in protest was staged at Maram Bazar by the residents of the nearby villagers.

A public meeting at Senapati district headquarters in which leaders of various Naga frontal organisations attended.

The sit in protest at Maram Bazar reportedly started at about 8 am and went on till 3 pm.

Slogans condemning the government decision and expressing warm welcome to the NSCN(IM) terming his visit as peace mission were displayed at the protest site, local source received here said.

In Tamenglong district, a huge protest rally was marched down the streets at Tamenglong headquarters to register solidarity to Muivah's home visit and decrying government's move to prevent him.

Our Tamenglong Correspondent Daniel Kameih reported that the rally was organised by a newly formed Joint Forum of Committee on Political Affairs, Tamenglong in support of Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) Thuingaleng Muivah, General Secretary of Naga Socialist Council of Nagalim/ GPRN visit to the state.

At the concluding part of the rally a memorandum was also submitted to the DC of the district for onward submission to the Union Home Minister.

Thousands people young and old including women and school children from various schools at the District HQs came and took part in the mass rally.

During the rally all shops and markets remained closed and vehicles were for the road.

They shouted slogan like "we condemned the state cabinet decision, welcome home Muivah, we love Muivah and Muivah Ringtelo" and also carried placards with "Let our leader come home, we condemned the state cabinet decision, Th Muivah Ato Kilonser Naga people welcome you, Naga fully support your peace initiative, bring us an honourable Naga solution, Th Muivah Ato Kilonsesr is not a trouble maker, Manipur government stop terrorizing the Naga people, Th Muivah a peace negotiator" etc.

The rally was started from Mini Stadium, Lower ground Apollo bazaar marching toward Medical gate and back to main market shed, the rally held a meeting and resolved to submit memorandum to the Union Home Minister through the DC of the district, Sumant Singh.

The memorandum charged the state government is creating communal tension in our own Nagas homeland and expressed strongly condemn all the activities of Manipur state forces and their naked chauvinistic approach towards the Nagas adding that the Government of India and the state government should solely responsible for any consequences.

The Joint Forum also requested the Union Home Minister to ensure the safe transit to Muivah to his native village Somdal Ukhrul district.

It also warned that the forum will take its course action if the government lifted the ban on Muivah.

In Chandel district also a sit-in protest was staged at Chandel district headquarters organised jointly by the Naga People Organisation, Naga Women Association, Chandel and Chandel Naga Human Rights.

They demanded government lifting the ban imposed on the visit of Muivah and allowed him to visit his native village.

During the protest, shops and other establishments in the district headquarters remained closed.

Vehicles also stay off the road.

Speaking at the protest site, Dr Sangam observed the government move to prevent Muivah from visiting is birth place is an act of terrorist and terrorizing the Naga people.

People become more violence by the decision of the government.

To break Manipur is depend on the relationships among the different communities but not by the land.

Tribunal member of the Naga People Organisation, Tolkham said NSCN(IM) is a lawful organisation and maintaining cease fire with the government of India.

The cease fire is in force in Manipur, he said citing the instant of escorting back a leader of the outfit to Nagaland when he entered the state few years back.

If cease fire was not extended in the state, the incident might have not occurred, he added.

It is wrongful act of the Manipur government to prevent Muivah from visiting the state.

Government has aroused the people in a pitiful matter, he added.

Angam Shatsang from Ukhrul add: The prohibition under CrPC section 144 has been lifted from Ukhrul effective from 9 am as the law and order situation improved in the district.

In the afternoon, people including students from various schools gathered at TNL ground condemning the cabinet decision terming it as "insincerity of government led by O Ibobi".

Leaders and members of many organisations apart from TMNL, TNL, TKS too part in the meeting that decided to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister expressing their hope and expectation for the visit of Th Muivah to his home town, Ukhrul District Headquarters on May 8 next after a period of nearly 50 years and short stay at his birth place Somdal for prayer time with the faithful with an aim to bring about a lasting peace.

"We are given the impression that the visit has been divided upon between New Delhi and NSCN Leadership and an understanding arrived at between the two," the memorandum said expressing doubt on the sincerity of New Delhi.

On the other hand, the Reception Committee said that 80% of the preparation for the visit of the Muivah has been completed this afternoon.

During his maiden visit Muivah will also unveil a monument in Ukhrul town.

The Reception Committee also appealed one and all to arrive at the reception site before 10 o'clock in the morning on May 8 .
